Jungfraubahnen operate seven workshops and faced the challenge of making their maintenance processes more transparent and efficient. Previously, separate asset management systems and various Excel spreadsheets were used, but this fragmented approach led to a lack of transparency and high administrative effort. To address this, the company decided to implement a centralized system that replaces existing tools and consolidates all functions onto a single platform. The goal was to meet ECM requirements while optimizing workflows for integrated railway operations.
A key focus was on organizational requirements: Since one person holds both the asset manager and workshop manager roles, specific adjustments were necessary to ensure high efficiency and user-friendliness. Workshop employees also benefit, as feedback on completed tasks, material tracking, and soon time tracking are all managed within one system—significantly simplifying and accelerating processes.
Since mid-2024, Jungfraubahnen Management AG has been successfully using Boom Rail Solutions in live operations. The first noticeable improvements have emerged in documentation: With operational approval and re-commissioning, all order documents are already stored in the system, eliminating the often time-consuming manual entry of maintenance records afterward.
The next steps toward further optimization include the introduction of long- and mid-term planning, enhancements to the mobile application for workshop employees, and the widespread implementation of the Rail Messaging Hub and its associated fault indication app. This app will be used not only for vehicle malfunctions but also for operational messages, such as reports from train drivers.
